Other: | William Robert (Buddy) Withers was born on 08 August, 1931. He joined the RAAF on 02 February, 1948 and was on No 1 RAAF Apprentice Intake. In the mid-1950s, William went on to become an NCO (sergeant) navigator, and on qualification, flew P2 Neptunes. Later becoming commissioned, he was posted to ARDU (Det B) at RAAF Base Richmond where he was seconded to the CSIRO. William flew as part of a joint RAAF-CSIRO cloud-seeding operation which was conducted in the late 50s and early 60s. Following his RAAF service, William, in the mid-60s, had an exciting and adventurous life in and around Kununurra (Kimberleys) in WA. He is now residing in an aged care facility in Murdoch WA.
