Welcome to the RAAF Airman Aircrew Association Website ....

he concept of creating a website for non-commissioned aircrew (Airman Aircrew) arose from a reunion held in 2000, when former and serving members gathered at RAAF Richmond to farewell the C-130E Hercules from service with the Royal Australian Air Force.

It is always a pleasure to reunite with old friends.  However, this gathering also brought with it the realisation that, with the passage of time, some of our mates had sadly passed away and many others had lost contact with one another.  As a result, the aim of this website is to help preserve the camaraderie and kinship that has long existed among Airman Aircrew, and to provide a means for former and serving members to remain connected.

When many of us first took to the skies, personal computers had yet to be developed, and concepts such as websites, email and social media were unheard of.  Today, these technologies provide us with the opportunity to strengthen and maintain the bonds between past and present Airman Aircrew, as well as our Associates.  This website has been established to help foster those connections by providing a means through which members can:

  • Keep in touch with friends, no matter where they may be.
  • Seek support, assistance or counsel during times of illness, hardship or bereavement.
  • Offer help and encouragement to members who are unwell or incapacitated.
  • Pay respects and extend condolences when members pass away.
  • Stay informed by holding reunions, commemorative events and other activities of interest.

There is no cost associated with membership of the Airman Aircrew Association.  Our objective is simply to maintain friendships, preserve our shared heritage, and strengthen the bonds that have united Airman Aircrew and its Associates.

What began as a modest list of approximately 50 names has grown considerably over the years.  However, there are still many former colleagues and friends with whom contact has been lost.  Similarly, there are many serving and former Airman Aircrew members, together with Associates, who have yet to come forward and become part of our network.  We encourage all those with a connection to the Airman Aircrew community to make contact and become involved.  We would therefore greatly appreciate any information, updates or feedback that may help us reconnect with those who remain missing from our records.  Together, we can ensure that the unique camaraderie and spirit of Airman Aircrew continue for generations to come.
