Ron was born on 7th August, 1941. He joined the RAAF on 20th January, 1958 as an apprentice on 12 intake (Wombats) and graduated as a Warrant Officer Apprentice. Ron completed his flight engineer training in 1966 with 37 Squadron (C130E).

Upon leaving the RAAF on 20th January, 1973, Ron commenced employment with Cathay Pacific where he advanced from Chief Flight Engineer 1011 to Flight Engineer Manager then Operations Manager at both Cathay and Air Hong Kong where he also acted as Director of Flight Operations. Ron retired from Cathay in 1995.

Sadly, Ron had an accident in early 2010 from which he did not fully recover and passed away at home on Wednesday 4th August, 2010.
