Ian retired from the RAAF on 09 December 1995 as a Warrant Officer loadmaster. Initially he flew with 5 Squadron where he became a helocopter loadmaster instructor. Later, Ian was posted 36 Squadron as a Hercules C-130H loadmaster. Post-RAAF, Ian settled in the Cabooolture (Queensland) where he worked as a computer technician.
