Dennis Frederick Olsen completed 39 years in the Royal Australian Air Force serving in both the permanent air force and the reserve. He joined on 20 January 1958, and following his technical training, qualified as an engine fitter. Dennis was discharged from the permanent air force on 27 October 1979 and joined the rerserve on 21 June 1981, discharging on 03 December 1997. Rank on discharge was Warrant Officer. Dennis transferred to helicopter crewman in 1965 and completed No1 Crewman Course later that year. He served in Vietnam with 9 Squadron from April 1966 to June 1967 and the Malayan Emergency. Dennis was one of the original crewman to be posted to 12 Squadron (circa 1973) and selected to undergo CH47 Chinook training in the USA.
