Vale - Rick WEATHERALL, Loadmaster ....

Rick was tragically killed on 27 November, 2008, when the tilt-train which he was driving, collided with a semi-trailer at a level crossing over the Bruce Highway two kilometres north of the Cardwell Range in North Queensland.

During his RAAF service, Rick was a loadmaster on both Iroquois and Blackhawk aircraft with 5 and 9 Squadrons and later with 5 Aviation Regiment in Townsville.

In a tragic twist, Mary Weatherall was left heartbroken, when on 14 June, 2010, callous thieves broke into her home and stole Rick's ashes. According to a Townsville Bulletin report, Mary was robbed on Monday afternoon when an unknown number of thieves raided her home and stole a box containing her husband Rick's ashes from a bedroom cupboard, along with a small amount of cash.
